Vacaville, California
June 11, 1961 - April 23, 2011
Debbie was born in Rantoul, Ill., at Chanute Air Force Base on June 11, 1961, and passed away in Vacaville on April 23, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
Debbie grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Vanden High School.
Debbie loved all animals. In her younger years, she trained and showed horses. In later years, you could always find her with her fearless companion, Pedro (the mighty Chihuahua), at her side.
Debbie was an avid sports fan who never missed her children's sporting activities or any of her nieces' or nephew's events, and her enthusiasm could always be heard.
But don't forget one of the many loves in her life, her Raiders! Debbie never missed a game or an opportunity to cheer for them.
Debbie had a wonderfully enjoyable career at NorthBay Hospital, where she worked for the rehab department for many years. Then she decided to change careers and found herself working for Solano County, where she truly found herself at home. Debbie thoroughly enjoyed working for the Sheriff's Office and remained there until she was unable to work.
Debbie is survived by her parents, Abb and Lee Woods; brothers, Bob Woods of Folsom and Joseph Woods of Vacaville; sister, Gail (Skip) Thomson of Vacaville; son, Michael (Joy) Woods and their children, Michael (little Mike), Iyanai, Isaih, Ivan and Ikaylah of Bakersfield; and daughter, Patrice Woods of Vacaville. Debbie is also survived by her niece and nephews, Jason Woods, Kristen Woods, Loren Thomson and Brandon Thomson.
Viewing will be Thursday, April 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. A funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Orchard Avenue Baptist Church, 301 Orchard Ave., Vacaville. In lieu of flowers please send contributions to the American Cancer Society in the name of Debbie Woods.
Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel, 448-6546
