Introductory Bio: Rebecca Mackbee (McBee) married Peter Nigh in Berkeley Springs, Berkeley, Virginia (now WV) c. 1822. They had several children born in VA and in Walnut Twp, Pickaway, OH. They then moved to Amanda, Fairfield, OH to raise their family and the ones yet to be born. Peter Nigh died in Sept 1842 just three months before the birth of their daughter, Martha Ann Nigh,in Dec 1842. Their sons were the eldest and were already marrying and raising families as were the older daughters. Rebecca moved her youngest three into Circleville and temporarily resided in the boarding house where her daughter Phebe and her husband were living with their baby son. Sarah C. Nigh was counted in the census record with Phebe's family. Rebecca kept Keziah and Martha Ann with her. About 1860 Rebecca saw her youngest daughter, Martha Ann, married to Ben Beachtell. Martha and Ben's eldest child, Charles, born c. 1860 took sick and died of unknown causes about 1864, the year Lizzie was born. Lizzie was followed by Mattie, Ben, and later Jesse. Rebecca passed on in 1868, her family grown, married, and raising families of their own, except Jesse. It is believed that Rebecca was buried in High Street Cemetery. Peter Nigh most likely was buried in the Amanda area. However, there were two Peter Nighs living in the vicinity of Amanda and Clearcreek. The one in Clearcreek was about ten years older. Rebecca's husband Peter was born c. 1800 in VA and died Sept 1842 in Amanda, Fairfield Co., OH. Bio will be updated with correct dates and locations soonest.
