Mrs. Searcy was born April 12, 1929, to Glenn and Coroline Cornwell Stottlemyre at Spickard, MO. She was raised and attended school at Spickard, MO. On March 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Simpson. They lived in the Chula area. He preceded her in death October 30, 1991. She remarried to Gerald Searcy, May 16, 1992. He preceded her in death in May of 1993.
Mrs. Searcy was on the board at the Carrollton Senior Center as well as belonging to the Chilly Campers and Rainbow Club.
Surviving relatives include four sons, Benny Simpson and his wife, Beverly, of Chula, MO, William Simpson and his wife, Sue, of St. Joseph, MO, Randall Simpson and his wife, Pat, of Lexington, MO, and John Allan Simpson and his wife, Sandy, of Chillicothe, MO; three daughters, Telpha Standley and her friend, Wayne Heuman, of Slater, MO, Nancy Orear and her husband, Tim, of Grand Pass, MO, and Nilia Horne, and her husband Kenny, of Independence, MO; two step-sons, Ronnie Searcy and his wife, Rosemary, of Chula, MO and Rex Searcy and his wife, Leann, of Hickory, MO; one brother, J. R. Stottlemyre, of Trenton, MO; 36 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two step sons, Randy and Roger Searcy; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Stottlemyre; and a great granddaughter, Gwyneth Standley.
Funeral services for Betty Searcy are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2006, at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, MO. Rev. Timothy Munday is to officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton, MO.
