MORGANTOWN ~ Aunt Maranda [sic] Walker died on the 2nd of September at the advanced age of 81 years. She was the mother of 8 children, 7 boys and 1 girl; six boys surviving her. She was reared in Kentucky, her husband, William Walker, dying in 1865, she remaining single since and has been a most affectionate mother and a faithful companion and was highly respected by all who knew her. She united with the M.E. church when quite young and proved a faithful member. Mrs. Walker had la grippe and never fully recovered from it. The funeral occurred at the East Crown Hill cemetery, of this place, and was largely attended.
