In 1930 she and her parents and four siblings lived on a farm they owned in Cass Township, Sullivan County, IN. They had apparently bought some of the land next to their house, as they had many of the same neighbors they had in 1920. Their home was valued at $3000, and they did not have a radio. Her father also worked as a machine man at a coal mine.

Florence LaVerne "Flo" Lewis, 93, of St. Clair Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Blue Water Hospice Home, Marysville.

She was born June 27, 1922 in Sullivan County, Indiana to the late Robert and Nellie Robertson. She moved from Anderson, Indiana to St. Clair in 1941. She married Stanley Lewis on June 27, 1942 in St. Clair. He died August 2, 1990.

Mrs. Lewis graduated from Union High School is Dugger, Indiana in 1940 and Flint School of Practical Nursing in 1959. She worked with several doctors in the area. She was most proud of her nursing years with Private Duty nursing. Mrs. Lewis enjoyed bird watching, gardening, feeding the hummingbirds and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who knew her as "Grandma LuLu."

She is survived by a daughter, Janet (Richard) Yeager of St. Clair Township; a son-in-law, James Trumble of China, Michigan; sister-in-law, Ruth Robertson of Highland, Indiana; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Trumble; her parents and siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in the Riverlawn Cemetery Chapel, Marysville.
