Bette was born on June 12, 1929 in Torrington, CT, the daughter of Lester and Meda Tompkins Fister. She married her husband, Daniel J. Carroll, in December 1955, and they raised four children together in Poughkeepsie.
For a period of time, the couple lived in New Port Richey, FL. Bette returned to Poughkeepsie in 2009 to be closer to her family.
A graduate of Pine Plains High School, Bette held a variety of jobs. She was a lifetime member of the Lagrange Ladies Auxiliary and spent her free time baking treats for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was an avid Betty Boop fan, collecting memorabilia as a hobby.
Bette is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Ronald) Rowland and Linda (Joseph) Lentz, son Kenneth (Tammy) Carroll, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel, son Daniel, Jr., two brothers and a sister.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00am at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral service will held following visitation at 11:00am in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Freedom Plains Cemetery.
