A visitation will be held Monday, October 12, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Welch. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Vinita, OK with burial following in the Bluejacket Cemetery.

Evelyn Mae Horton, 79, a longtime rural Bluejacket, OK resident, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, OK after a sudden illness. She was born July 16, 1936 in the Wimer community west of Welch, OK to Darrell Fair and Lillie (Fair) Howe. She was a high school graduate. She was a charter member of the Garden Club and truly enjoyed the monthly meetings of the Senior Citizens in Vinita, Bluejacket, and Welch. She will be truly missed each month by her fellow senior citizens who greatly enjoyed visiting with her. She was homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Vinita. She loved gardening and family reunions. Evelyn was the loving wife of Robert Leon Horton. On April 9, 1977, Robert preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Russell Horton and wife Jeanie of Bluejacket, OK, Monte Horton of Afton, OK, and Steve Horton and wife Elaine of Vinita, OK; five grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Fair and wife Letha of Coffeyville, KS, Darrell Fair and wife Esther of Coffeyville, KS, and Bud Moffitt of Texas; two sisters Rosalea Allison of Burney, CA, and Gwendolyn Hagar of Texas, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Thomas Funeral Home in Welch. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Vinita, OK. Ministers Marshall Miller and L.D. Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bluejacket Cemetery.
