Dennis "Hoss" Buchanan, age 69, of Bandana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8th, 2015 at his home unexpectedly. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Glen and Mary Howell Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Grindstaff who passed away in 2011. He was member of Silver Chapel Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He worked with Burlington Cotton Mill in Marion until their closing then Lawson United (KT Feldspar) and finally as a trucking dispatcher with Southeastern Trucking in Nebo until his retirement. Hoss loved to golf, bowl, fish and the outdoors.

Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Annette Letterman Buchanan; son, Joey Buchanan and wife, Camille, of Bandana; son-in-law, Patrick Grindstaff, Sr. of Spruce Pine; brother, Larry Dean Buchanan and wife, Cathy, of Thomaston, GA; five grandchildren: Cameron, Cody and Hope Buchanan and Cynthia Denise Morgan and husband, Gregory, and Patrick Grindstaff, Jr. and great-grandchildren: Kaylee Ray Morgan and Myles Levi Morgan.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 12th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Chris Rathbone and Rev. Mark McKinney will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Silver Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
