Melissa Anne Crow, 42, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, in the Ed & Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brave battle with cancer.

Melissa was born July 13, 1973, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Rodney Lee Crow and Kathy Rae Walton. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1991.

Melissa worked for Amana Refrigeration and at English Valley Care Center in North English.

Melissa was a social butterfly and loved visiting with people.

She enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, bowling, camping, flowers and landscaping.

Her world revolved around her children.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: James Floyd, Ernest and Adeline Crow and Raymond Walton; and her step-father, Michael Cohrt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Ivan Nienhaus as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 12, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton. Committal services will be held in Keystone Cemetery, Keystone, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the Guardian Angel Program for Melissa’s caregivers on the 5th floor at St. Luke’s Hospital. Mail to: St. Luke’s Foundation, Guardian Angel Program P.O. Box 3026, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406-9927. Please note “5th Floor” in the Memo section of your check.
