Funeral services celebrating the life of Wesley Kenneth Parker will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Rush Chapel, Pineville, Louisiana with the Reverend Ricky Belgard. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Gardens in Pollock, Louisiana under the direction of Rush Funeral Home in Pineville.

Wesley Kenneth Parker, 77, of Deville, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Friday, October 8, 2015 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.

He was a retired member of the United States Air force. TSGT Parker was a highly decorated Vietnam veteran who served his country honorably and who earned the respect and admiration of his peers. He was also a retired DOD civil servant and member of the Cenla Civitan Club of Alexandria. Mr. Parker was a loving father, grandfather and husband.

Wesley was born June 20, 1938 to Wesley Parker and Edith Collins Parker. He graduated from Buckeye High School class of 1956 and joined the United States Air Force as an Avionic Navigations System Technician. He was assigned to England Air Force in 1957. At age 20, Airman 2nd Class Wesley Parker married 19 year-old Airman 3rd Class Frances Marie Grozzo on August 1, 1958. They had five sons and one daughter.

He did one tour in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, 1969-1970 at DaNang Air Force Base. During his time in the Air Force the family moved throughout the country from the east coast to the west coast. He was awarded 4 Air Force Accommodation Medals and a Bronze Star as well as various other prestigious awards. Wesley retired from the Air Force in 1977 after 20 years, 4 months and 28 days of service. He acquired an Associate Degree in Electronics in 1976. He also completed a multitude of military courses including the oldest person to pass Army Air Assault training. He worked at various places from 1979 through the early 1980s including: Perry Chrysler, Delta Terminals, Cottman Transmission, Peter Betts Lincoln Mercury, Wilkins Claims and Delta College. He joined the Cenla Civitan Club of Alexandria while functioning as the manager of the Auto Hobby Shop on England Air Force Base in Alexandria. He worked on England Air Park until the close of the base. After which, he relocated to Fort Campbell Kentucky and resided at Oak Grove Kentucky functioning as a diesel engine mechanic for the U.S Army DOL sight. Upon retirement from his DOD civilian post, he returned to Central Louisiana where he was employed at Pinecrest State Hospital as a boiler engineer until he was diagnosed with lung cancer which prompted his early retirement from the State of Louisiana. He passed away on October 8, 2015 at 11:18 pm.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Edith Parker; and sister, Velma Sue Beaubouef.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Frances Marie Grozzo Parker of Deville; sons, Kenneth Michael Parker of Hickory, North Carolina, Stephen Douglas Parker and wife Mary of Boyce, David Kyle Parker and wife Teena of the Philadelphia community, Shannon Neil Parker and wife Tammy of Pineville and Andrew Wesley Parker and wife Jeannie of the Hickory Grove community; daughter, Tina Marie Parker Cayse and husband Daniel of Prospect; twelve grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren and four step grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and step grandchild: Trent Parker, Anthony Parker, Daniel Parker, Brett Parker, Michael Foster and Jonathan Terbot.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of the service.
