Bill D. Broughton passed away October 6th in Oklahoma City OK. He was born in Konowa, Oklahoma to Theora T. Parks Broughton and Leonard C. Broughton. He moved to Kansas with his family when he was 6 months old where he remained through young adulthood forming lifelong friendships with classmates, excelling in sports, lettering in basketball, football, track, and baseball in high school. Bill went back frequently to attend high school reunions to keep up with his cherished friends. Bill graduated from the University of Wichita in 1956 with a degree in Geology. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Gamma fraternity. He married in 1956 and began a family in 1957 when daughter, Stacy was born, followed by sons Jay in 1958 and Tim in 1959. He was employed by Petroleum Inc. in Wichita and Liberal, Kansas. On December 1st, 1972 he moved to Oklahoma City which would prove life changing when in the same year he met Carole Sue. Within a year they were married on August 16th 1973 when upon not only did he find the love of his life but gained 4 little girls in the process whom he treated as his own. He was Independent Petroleum Geologist for the remainder of his life. Member of Oklahoma City Geological Society, AAPG, and SIPES. Bill loved fishing and his many fishing trips with his buddies. Which he was quite good at it and has the pictures to prove it. He was an avid sports fan all his life who enjoyed watching games and tennis matches. Bill and Carole enjoyed a life together filled with tennis matches at Woodlake, OCTC, and Quail Creek, traveling with friends and family, boating, raising their family, gardening with terrific results, and sharing a good glass of wine and food with their dear friends. His friendships were paramount to him and Carole. Bill was a kind soul who was greatly generous with his time always offering a helping hand. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Loretta French. He is survived and missed by his brother Jack Broughton of Ft. Dodge, KS and sister Rosalie (Harley) Renz of Rush Center, KS. He is also survived and missed by Carole Sue, his wife, of the home, daughter Stacy (Doug) Braye of Martinez, CA, son Jay (Robin) Broughton of Katy, TX, son Tim Broughton of Salt Lake City, UT, stepdaughters Elizabeth Crabtree of OKC, OK, Jackie (Joe) Coates of Edmond, OK, Debbie Crabtree of Edmond, OK, and Nancy (Jeremy) Aber of Boca Raton, FL. He adored and was so proud of his 8 grandchildren; Rachel and Jacob Braye, Kayla and Jackson Coates, Nick and Indianna Fedder, and Jonathan and Brady Aber. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
