Janie Kaye Sanders, age 65 of Genesee Twp., (formerly of Lapeer) passed away February 27, 2015 in the comforts of her home with family members at her side. She was a graduate of Lapeer High School, class of 1968. After high school she enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. She was based in Texas and remained stateside throughout the war, serving as a Neuropsychiatric Technician. She later was employed at Lapeer County Medical Facility (Suncrest) as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Despite her life struggles, Janie always kept a strong faith in God. Her philosophy on life was not a matter of the glass being half full or half empty, but more importantly she was just happy to have a glass.

Janie is survived by her son Christopher Sanders; daughter Angelique Sanders; grandchildren Matthew, Erin, Katelyn, Jacob, Ethan, Megan, Mackenzie; great granddaughter Kayedin; brother Samuel Lynn (Julie) Sanders; sister Darlene “DeDe” (John) Simonds; special cousin Joyce Truax.

She was preceded in death by her parents Horace “Sandy” Sanders and LaVerta Sanders Hack, nee. Truax; daughter Robin Sanders; brother-in-law John Simonds; step-father George Hack; several grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Janie and her family would like to express a special “thank you” to Lisa Lindsay N.P. and Dr. Sayed M. Osama, M.D. for their special care and support in her final moments. Also to Davita, Adrian, Heidi, Dawn and Universal Ambulance Service.

In following with her wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held on March 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel. Pastor G. James Pryor will be officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial of cremated remains will take place at Stiles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Janie's family are greatly appreciated.
