Robert was tall and of slender build with blue eyes and dark hair - his father was from France and his mother from Germany

Robert married Wilhelmina in 1904, she was also born in Ohio, they had one son Robert Louis, Jr born in 1906 - they had one other child deceased by 1910

Robert was mustered in to the 10th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry Company K as a Private in 1898 and appointed Cook with the rank of Corporal 23 Feb 1899

In 1918 when Robert registered for the WW1 draft, he was employed as a Meat Cutter with Brandt Meats in Cleveland

By 1940 Robert was a widower, he was still working as a Meat Cutter and had a lodger, the widow Francis A (Avann) Turney living with him
