Edna Carter Welch, 77, of Bedford, died Monday, October 5, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Bedford County on January 7, 1938 a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Carter and Emma Dooley Carter. She was a member of Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from the Elks National Home. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Welch, daughters, Susie Overstreet and Loretta Overstreet; sisters, Ruby Orange, Virginia Robertson and Nellie Overstreet; brothers, Floyd and George Carter. She is survived by her children, Danny Overstreet, Edward B. Overstreet, Jr., Clifton Wayne Overstreet and his wife, Kelly; Pam Shepherd and her husband, Tim; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Hartberger and Mable Spence; brother, Homer Clark; Also raised by Andrew and Emma, Obie Carter, Sr., Myrtle Nester and Barbara Overstreet; Several special nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Centra Hospice, Sissy Parker, Stephanie Gifford and Debra Coleman for their care of Edna. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Cool Springs Pentecostal Church with Rev. Larry Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
