VALDESE Dwight Nelson Campbell, 65, of Elkin and formally of Hickory, went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2011, following a lengthy illness.


Dwight was born to the late Vernon and Nannie Campbell on Sept. 29, 1945, in Iredell County.


He was a member of New Life Baptist Church, and was a retired truck driver for Ready Mix. Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ross Campbell; and a sister, Virginia Rhoney.


Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Tammy Livingston and her Robert Brock, of Hickory; a son, James Campbell, of Hickory; four grandchildren, Katie McPherson and her Jason Cole, Samantha Eaker, Wendy Livingston and Forrest Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Carsyn; a brother, Wayne Campbell and his wife, Jackie, of Missouri; and a sister, Faye Thriftm and her husband, Gene, of Ellenboro.


No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dwight's daughter, Tammy Livingston, P.O. Box 1, Icard, NC. 28666 to help with funeral costs.
