Born July 26, 1911 in Pekin to Albert Miles and Susan Marie Nelson Goodwin, she married Earl William Wade on September 21, 1929 in Pekin. He died January 8, 1970 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter (Thelma L. Tibbs on March 18, 1988 in Peoria), three brothers, and three sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol J. (Gary) Newton of Pekin; four grandchildren, Michael J. (Sue) Tibbs and Steve W. Tibbs, both of Pekin, Curtis J. (Debi) Newton of Ruston, Louisiana, and Cheryl J. (Rev. Eric) Hansen of Springfield; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wade worked for the Hinner's Organ Factory and later on the bottling line at the American Distilling Company in Pekin for many years. She last worked as a clerk at the McLellans Dime Store in downtown Pekin, retiring in 1959.
She was a member of the Pekin Bible Church and the community club at the UAW High-rise in Pekin. She enjoyed playing cards, doing word searches, and embroidering.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Eric A. Hansen will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
