Served in WWI #3794 L/CPL 5th Batt. he was severely gassed in the war and often suffered the effects. He was not feeling well at work, so he travelled home by train and he died accidently when he fell from the train between two carriages. He left a wife and three young children. The community started a subscription appeal and raise enough money (over 570 pounds) to buy the widow a house for her and the children to live in.
