Army Pfc. White was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York. White was killed when his platoon came in contact with enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire during combat operations in Nangalam. He joined the Army in July 2005 and completed basic and advanced training to be an infantryman. In December 2005, he was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, newly organized under the Army's Transformation initiative.
