Ted Lewis Phillips, age 73, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 14, 1942 in Bremen, Georgia, the son of the late Virgil Lewis Phillips and Adell Strickland Phillips. He was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Zion High School. He was retired from Carroll County Road Department following a twenty-six year career with Carroll EMC; and was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Fricks. Survivors include his wife, Susan J. Thompson Phillips; children: Tee Phillips of Roopville, Melony Phillips of Bowdon, Cyndi & Lee Meade of Carrollton, and Chris & LeAnn Benton of Douglasville; brother, Charles Phillips of Union City; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a number of great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 8, 2016 from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Carlton Rivers officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be William Meade, Justin Meade, Jeff Fricks, Tom Fricks, Travis Hill, and Blake Jeter. Honorary pallbearers will be Weems Hightower, Ken Lyle, Ethan Phillips, and Dustin Phillips. Interment will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery.
