DAVID LEE REDDING David Redding , 67, passed away on July 31 after a prolonged illness. He was born in Effingham, Illinois on November 4, 1938 to James R. and Florence E. (Burr) Redding. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years Sandra S. (Oakleaf) and 8 children: Susan Martin, Toby Redding, Gail Olson, Bonnie Redding, Elizabeth Roeper and Larry Redding all of Flagstaff, Tyler Redding of Seattle, WA and Marilyn Pitts of Omaha, Nebraska, 23 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many and various extended members of the family. Dave was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, retired as a CW-2 in 1978 at Ft. Huachuca, and member of the VFW and past member of the American Legion. He worked as an alarm technician for Central Alarms (now ADT) for several years and owned his own communications business a few years. He worked at Flagstaff Medical Center and Perot Services Communications Division for 17 years and retired in 2004. Over the past 41 years he was a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader and volunteer intermittently, and most recently with the Grand Canyon Council in Flagstaff as a unit commissioner. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife and visiting historical sites. He also enjoyed teaching kids about the "wampus kitty" and "snipe hunting". While serving in the army the Redding family lived in Berlin, Germany, Panama, Alaska and various U.S. military bases in the U.S. as well as Sierra Vista and Flagstaff, Arizona since his military retirement.
