He was listed with his parents, Will and Harriet, in the 1900 census at age 2. His mother died in 1906 when Ray was only 8-9 years old, and about 1907 his father married a widow, Mrs. Ida Kennedy Madry, who had 3 daughters still at home and whose husband had died in 1900. In 1910 the blended family -- 3 Moore children, including Ray at age 13, and 3 Madry children -- were listed together in the census. By 1920, however, Ida had left, had resumed her first married name, and was living in Fort Worth, Texas caring for her invalid daughter, Emma Madry.
Ray married Nettie B. Archer about 1919 and had 3 sons and 3 daughters -- Roy Weldon, Mary Calloway, Harold, Bobby Gene, Wanda Mae, and Kenneth Warren Moore. The family owned a farm on Arkansas Lane in western Arlington, Texas where they had dairy cattle and grew vegetable crops. They primarily grew tomatoes, cantaloupes, watermelons, peaches, pears and peanuts. Most vegetables were delivered to the Fort Worth produce market.
Ray's wife, Nettie, died in 1969 and was buried in Rehoboth Cemetery. He followed her in death in 1984.
