Judge Walter Lee Krone, 54, a widely known Southern Illinois attorney, died at his home in Metropolis last Sunday morning following an illness of more than a year. While he had been able to be up most of the time, he was taken seriously ill about a week ago. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church here Monday afternoon with burial in the Masonic Cemetery. Judge and Mrs. Krone moved to Metropolis from Lyon County, Ky. about 18 years ago and he established a law office. He and his wife conducted the old Park Hotel for several years and less than a year ago acquired control of it, changing the name to the Marquette Hotel. Due to declining health he moved his office and library to that hotel and there he spent the last months of his life in the society of relatives and friends. The couple had no children but did help raise and educate young relatives.
