Funeral service was Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the United Church of Faulkton with burial at the Faulkton Cemetery.
Doris Louise Zachritz was born October 22, 1924 to Dr. George F. and Clara (Roberts) Zachritz in Faulkton. She graduated from Faulkton High School and later attended Mount Marty College for two years; studying nursing. She worked at the Faulkton Nursing Home for 37 years; first as an aide and then later promoted to bookkeeper.
In Doris’ free time, she enjoyed her weekly coffee group, singing, reading, cross-word puzzles, piano, playing cards, and listening to music. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rebecca Lodge serving as Noble Grand and Treasurer, Tuesday Club, and the United Church of Faulkton where she sang in the choir.
Throughout her life, she lived in Faulkton, Brookings, Madison, Watertown, Gettysburg, and Aberdeen. She took great pride in her three daughters and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother, George Zachritz; three daughters, Gloria (David) Miller, Georgia (Gene) McCullough, and Ginger (Greg) Davidson; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Proceeding her in death was her father, Dr. George Zachritz; infant son, Paul; mother, Clara Zachritz; and brother, Owen Zachritz.
She will be remembered for her positive attitude, appreciating the simple things in life, and caring about people.
