She married August 6, 1938, Herbert Jacob "Herb" Meyfarth. He was born July 29, 1910 in Cleveland, the son of George H Meyfarth and Matilda Russ. He died July 19, 2009 at age 98 in Bradenton, Florida. They were married nearly 71 years.

Ruth and Herbert lived in the Cleveland, Ohio area until retiring to Florida in 1972. After graduating a year early from high school, Ruth worked for the school, and then as a secretary at an insurance company in Cleveland until she had children.
Over the years Ruth was active in Republican Women's Club, garden clubs, and as a Veterans' Hospital volunteer.
Most important to her was her husband and their family, who will cherish a multitude of happy memories of times spent, stories told, and values taught by both Ruth and Herb.
Ruth enjoyed tennis from her youth. She and Herb often vacationed where they could play tennis, forming new friendships everywhere they went. In Florida she enjoyed long walks on the beach, playing tennis, reading, and her grandchildren.
The family gathered later to celebrate her life.
