Her parents owned and operated the former Lewis E. Reitz General Store, post office and feed mill at Leck Kill, Pennsylvania. As a young girl she enjoyed helping with the family business.
She was a 1936 graduate of the former Pine Park High School in Leck Kill, Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the Debate Team.
She was married on Saturday, June 28, 1941, to Lawrence E. Rothermel, who died on Sunday, June 30, 2002.
She was a homemaker and also assisted her husband Lawrence in operating the former Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, from 1950 through 1980.
She was a member of the Salem Church of Rough and Ready, Klingerstown, where she had formerly served as Sunday school superintendent.
She was a former member of the Mahantongo Valley Senior Citizens.
She loved her family and enjoyed raising flowers, reading, playing cards and traveling.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin A. and Melvia Rothermel of Dillsburg, and Stephen R. and Sandra Rothermel of Klingerstown; six grandchildren, Scott, Todd, David and Eric Rothermel, Elaine Nakashima and Beth Scheib; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Melvin Reitz of Kutztown, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Adams, Gertrude Moyer and Mary Geist, and four brothers, John Emory, Norman A. Lester and Irvin Reitz.

ROTHERMEL — Eleanor A. Rothermel, 90, formerly of Klingerstown and Polk Personal Care Center, Millersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem Church of Rough and Ready, Klingerstown, with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
