LANKFORD, Mrs. Nella Emma, 80, 408 Southside Avenue, passed away at a local hospital today at 2 a.m. after suffering burns at the residence Feb. 19. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Elder, Rainbow City; Mrs. Mildred Brookner, Nancy, France; one son, Ward Lankford, Attalla; one brother, E.R. White, Longview, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Jannett Holland, Bedford, Pa.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held from Collier-Butler Chapel Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Revs. R.M. Forbes and Newell Massey officiating.
Interment will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. B.J. Steinberg, Joe Troncale, Wally Rund, Reuben Schreij, Ray Ellis, Bailey Smith, Ed Thornton, Preston Phillips, Jerome Keeling, and all other personal friends.
Mrs. Lankford was a native of St. Clair County and a resident of Etowah County for the past 45 years. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Lankford. Mrs. Lankford was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, St. Clair County.
The body will remain at Collier-Butler Chapel through the hour of service.

Local Woman Suffers Burns
An 60-year-old woman is in critical condition in a local hospital after suffering second and third degree burns over sixty per cent of the body yesterday.
According to fire inspector W.B. Houston, Mrs. Nellie W. Lankford of 408 Southside Street backed into a heater catching her clothes on fire.
A woman in an adjoining apartment, Mrs. Louise Flynt, heard her screams and rushed to her assistance. She wrapped a blanket around Mrs. Lankford, putting out the fire.
Mrs. Lankford was taken to the hospital.
The call was one of five answered by the fire department yesterday.
