Born January 9, 1942 in Catawba County to the late Robert Preston Hedrick and Vivian Clara Jane Sigmon Hedrick. Preston was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont, where he enjoyed serving on the Church Council and other church activities. He was a charter member of Oxford Volunteer Fire Department and served his community for 48 years, he also volunteered his time as a Boy Scout leader. Preston enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and farming.

David Hedrick and wife Heidi of Claremont
Daughter: Karen Pope and husband Kelly of Statesville
Brother: Tommy Hedrick and wife Frances of Bethlehem
Grandchildren: Peyton Hedrick, Logan Hedrick, Chase Hedrick, Zachary Pope, Colby Pope, Taylor Hedrick and Jadyn Hedrick
A service to celebrate Preston’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. Rev. Eric Hollar and Rev. Craig Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church. Serving as pallbearers; Rodney Brown, Donnie Deal, Dale Hedrick, Jason Hedrick, Jerry Sigmon Jr., and Scott Sigmon. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers along with members of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department.
