Deanne "Dee" L. Allen age 70 of San Antonio passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, October 2, 2015. She was born October 19, 1944 in Bennington, Vermont to Herbert H. and Lula Belle (Fish) Weaver.Dee was a devoted military wife and mother for 30 years. She had a knack for making "home" wherever the military sent her, her husband, and their children. Each new duty station brought another opportunity for Dee to touch a life. Whether she was volunteering at the military hospital cuddling and singing to the premature babies in the neonatal ICU or graciously hosting friends at their home with homemade dinners or volunteering with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, she more than left her loving mark.Dee's children and grandchildren meant the world to her and her happiest moments were spent in their presence. She included them in her passion for baking and her love for music. Her creative gifts are evident in her grandchildren's artistic and musical talents. Each one of them honing their own gifts to pass on to future generations; be it making beautiful music on stringed instruments or making her famous pies and Christmas cookies.Through her last days Dee's caring heart never faltered, more concerned with her family's well-being than her own. Deanne's family looks back in celebration of her life and forward in celebration of her love, maintaining the strength of their family through her example. In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by her two sisters, her one brother and numerous other family members. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Col. Carl R. Allen, USAF (Ret); her children, Scott Allen and his wife, Sandra, Christopher Allen and his wife, Denise, Kasandra Smith and her husband, David; her grandchildren, Adam Christopher Allen and his wife, Jessica, Gabriel Carlton Allen, Emily Elida Allen, Sasha Nicole Smith and Nolon Edward Smith; numerous other family members.SERVICESVisitation will begin on Wednesday, October 5, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive.
