Delores Hayes MATTOON - Delores Jean Hayes, age 87, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 10:52 p.m. on September 9, 2014 at Gowin Parc. Funeral Services honoring her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL. Burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Delores was born on June 27, 1927 in Coles County, IL the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Ellison) Dairy. She married Charles A. Hayes on May 8, 1948. Survivors include her sons, James P. (Vickie) Hayes of Charleston, IL and Stephen R. (Cheri) Hayes of East Moline, IL; daughter, Linda (Larry) Nielsen of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Emily (Joe) Bianchi of Mokena, IL, Lee Nielsen of Bentonville, AR, Marcus (Karen) Hayes of Skokie, IL, Lonnie Nielson of Los Angeles, CA, Charlie Hayes of Charleston, IL and Lucas Hayes of Charleston, IL; great grandchildren, Conrad, Max, Hamilton, Caden, Lilianna and Bennett; brother, Joe Daily of Lerna, IL and brother in law Roy "Ed" Adair of Lerna, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Gene Aikman, husband, sister Naomi Adair, brother David Daily and sister in law Janice Daily.

Delores was employed by the Mattoon School District Community Unit 2. She also worked at Mattoon Golf and Country Club and Thrifty Drug Store. Delores attended The Fields (formerly 1st Assembly) and Praise Assembly churches. She was an active homemaker, avid Cardinals fan, doll collector and chocolate lover. Delores loved children and enjoyed hosting meals at her home at holidays, family gatherings or just having her family and friends over at the house. She had a table full of wonderful food. She fixed, cooked and served it all. Delores had great joy seeing others eat, visit and have fun. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Memorial donations in her honor may be given to The Fields Church or Praise Assembly.
