Mildred Hagen Finnessey, 94, died on her birthday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls, where she has resided for the past year following a stroke.

A beloved wife and mother, Mildred grew up in North Dakota where she attended college in Grand Forks. She married her husband, John J. Finnessey, in 1940 and they shared 64 wonderful years. Together, they raised eight children in Great Falls, Montana, where she also cared for her invalid mother, before they transferred to Minot, North Dakota.

Mildred was a full-time housewife and mother, actively involved in her children's activities. Still, she found time to help others as the president of the Pink Ladies Guild at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.

Upon their retirement, John and Mildred relocated to Marble Falls and became active members of an organ club.

Mildred was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 435 in Marble Falls and a 74-year member of Pi Beta Phi in Minot, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Arthur Hagen and Nellie Steen Hagen; her husband John J. Finnessey, and daughters, Theresa DeLisle and Jacquelyn Colyer.

She is survived by: son, Michael Finnessey and his wife, Jerry, of Houston; son, Patrick Finnessey, and wife, Linda, of Florissant, Missouri; son, John Finnessey, and wife, Margie, of San Ramon, California; daughter, Mary K. Brown, and husband, Trent Brown, of Brackettville, Texas; son, Dennis Finnessey, and wife, Nancy, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Sean Finnessey, of Spring-field, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and long-time friend and caregiver, Brenda Palmore.

A memorial service will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Marble Falls on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Rose-hill Memorial Cemetery in Minot, North Dakota.
