Linda F. (Standard) Teal
January 8, 1952 - June 13, 2015

Linda F. (Standard) Teal of Thomaston GA, passed away on June 13, 2015 ,at the age of 63 after fighting her long battle with cancer.

Linda quit school to marry her high school sweetheart, Dennis Teal. In her early years, Linda worked at Thomaston Mills as a machine operator and then became a maintenance technician. Once leaving the mill she went to work as a clerk at West Central Georgia Bank. Then after going back to school to earn her GED, Linda proceeded to earn a diploma in Electronic Technology which she put to use working at Warner Robins Air Force Base. While there she earned many Notable Achievement Awards including the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award and also wrote and received letters from Congress and the U.S Senate on behalf of the poor wage laws civil employees faced. Most of her work there was highly classified, but she played a vital part in assisting our troops in time of war.

Linda is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dennis Teal; her daughter & son-in-law: Patti and Ray Holley; her son: Michael Teal and four grandchildren: Kirstie (Dustin) Golden, Keyanna, Chance and Kayelee Holley, and brother: Terry Standard.

Linda was loved by many, gave her all, and never asked for anything in return. She always thought of others and put her family’s happiness before her own; her heart was filled with love and generosity. She always made sure that her family had what they needed never the less what they wanted. Christmas time was always her favorite time of the year, not only because of the good food, but because she knew that the whole family would be packing up to come to her house, where it was filled with love, joy, happiness, and all the hugs and kisses you could ever want; oh, and do not forget the amazing gifts! Linda went to church every Sunday and was a devout Christian; when the grandkids came along she started planting the seed of Christ in them. Her favorite verse that she lived by daily was Philippians 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me”. This verse gave her all the power she needed to FIGHT for her life over the “evil” of her body called CANCER! No matter how many times it tried to bring her down, her strength and faith in God helped her fight to see another day, bound and determined not to let the cancer win. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her testimony was amazing and was a gift from God, as she felt the need to move from church to church to touch others. Linda’s passing leaves a hole in all of our hearts, but she would not want us to cry but instead to live as if she is still with us.

Please join us in the Celebration of Linda’s Life, which will be held Friday, June 19, 2015, at 6:00 PM in the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.

Linda’s request was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America to help those still fighting cancer with non medical expenses or Gateway for Cancer Research to help with cancer research.

Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
