James "Red" Shackelford, 68, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Shackelford was born in Roxie, MS and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, of which he commissioned the U.S.S. America from 1965 to1968. Red was a lifetime carpenter with the Local 764 Carpenter's Union. Red enjoyed family, hunting, fishing, golf, cooking, campfires and cold beer. Survivors include his sons Craig and Brandon Shackelford, Daughter in Law Cathi Shackelford, Grandchildren Zachary Spinks, Jamie Shackelford, and Jessie Shackelford. Proceeded in death by father Joe Shackelford, mother Dorothy Shackelford, and brother Charles Shackelford. Survived by two brothers, Bo and Joe Shackelford, two sisters June Finklea and Patsy Proctor, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m.Thrusday, September 17, 2015 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 7970 Mike Clark Road Keithville, La 71047.
