Bette Louise Baker (nee Schultze), age 82 of Merrillville, Lehigh Acres, FL, and Miller, passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 23, 2015. She was born May 14, 1933 to Francis and Mary Schultze in Kittanning, PA. She married Homer L. Baker in Pennsylvania on June 26, 1954. Shortly after, they came to Indiana for Homer to work at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill. In 1994, they retired to Lehigh Acres, FL where she lived until June of this year before returning to Merrillville. While in Gary, they were very active with the Hobart Elks #1152 (Homer serving twice as Exalted Ruler) and the Hobart Moose Lodge. Bette had worked at Calumet Securities and then as a dispatcher with different companies who hauled steel for the mills before she retired. Preceded in death by husband, Homer on April 13, 2014 and parents. She is survived by two daughters: Kay (David) Gonzales, Deborah Drinski; seven grandchildren: David (April) Gonzales, Joshua Gonzales, Kenneth (Stephanie) Novak, Kyle (Diane) Novak, Amanda Gonzales, Richard and DJ Drinski; five great grandchildren: Isabella and Miranda Gonzales, Hero Novak, Kennedy and Sydney Novak; one brother, Ronald (Linda) Schultze; brother-in-law, Robert (Fay) Baker; sister-in-law, Ann (late Bill) Pfoutz, George (Shirley) Baker. Rev. Tom Shanahan officiating. At rest Maplewood Memorial Cemetery.
