Claire Diane Williams, wife, mother, sister, and dear friend to many, passed away on September 27, 2015 after a nearly six year battle with liver disease.

Claire was born in Oakland, CA, to William and Margaret Moon on 12/2/1957. She was the third of five children. She spent most of her growing up years in Fremont, CA, where she attended Washington High School and attended San Jose State University majoring in education.

Claire married Randy Williams in June of 1984 in Fremont, CA, where they lived and where she taught at Fremont Christian School and Brookvale Elementary School until they moved to Whatcom County in 1988.

In 1989 they had their first child, Ryan, followed in 1992 by their second child, Kimberly. Claire could not have been prouder of these two, never shying away from talking about them and their accomplishments on the athletic fields or on the stage. Being a mother and wife was her dream from the time she was a little girl.

Claire was a selfless wife. Always putting Randy ahead of herself, looking for ways of surprising him with a gift or act of service to demonstrate her love for him. Both derived great joy from their marriage. Claire was the love of Randy's life, and he was the love of hers. They especially enjoyed going to baseball games together, out to try new restaurants, walks at Boulevard Park, camping, and often sitting around the fire pit in their backyard just talking.

Claire was a natural-born teacher. She loved children, and she thoroughly enjoyed teaching them. She taught for 35 years, 27 of those in the Ferndale School District at Custer Elementary School. She also loved sharing her knowledge of education with younger teachers, encouraging where she could. She is known as a good colleague, never complaining and always positive. Her kindergarten students could anticipate a hug and a smile from her daily. It wasn't uncommon to see a child run up to her in a public place just to give her a hug. She's been teaching long enough in the area that many of her former students have placed their own children in her class.

Most important to Claire, however, was her relationship with Jesus Christ. She'd made a commitment to Christ at a young age while attending Centerville Presbyterian Church in Fremont, CA. She never wavered in that commitment. She would say that she is who she is because of His deep love for her. Always one to be humble, Claire would give credit to God for making her who she was. Claire made the most of the gifts and abilities God gave her, and it was her mission to help her own children, and her kindergarteners, get the most of what they'd been given.

Claire is survived by her husband, Randy; children: Ryan Williams and Kimberly (Williams) Goldston; son-in-law, Justin Goldston and future daughter-in-law, Jessica Wolfer; sisters: Helen Coverdale, Tina Moon and Robin Moon; and her brother, William Moon, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate Claire's life will be held on Tuesday October 6 at 4:30pm at Cornwall Church in Bellingham, WA. All who knew her and appreciated her are welcome to attend.
