Mae B. Clark Russell, age 85, of Bauxite, is singing and dancing on the streets of gold as of October 1, 2015. She was born June 10, 1930 in the Shaw Community to Thomas E. Miller and Sophia Mae Kentner Miller. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; half-brother, David Miller; son-in-law, Mike Pelton and grandsons, Kevin and Stephen Pelton.
She is survived by her husband, Lenny Russell; her children, Robert Parsons (Jan), Sandra Pelton and Terry Parsons (Sherry); step-children, Linda Russell Norton Eshoo, Leonard Russell, Jr. and Carl Russell; sisters, Eva Harrison (Henry) and Iva Johnson (Jay); brother, Thomas Miller, Jr.; grandchildren, Dustin Parsons, Layne Parsons, Angel Cuffel, Shane Parsons, Adam Parsons, Wesley Parsons, Laura Smith and Tara Morgan and eight great-grandchildren.
She was the president of the Saline County Council for Aging, former Mayor of Bauxite and present member of the Bauxite City Council. Mae was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Choir. She was a very active member and Head Quilter at the Benton Senior Wellness & Activity Center for 14 years. Mae loved quilting, gardening, canning, bowling, telling jokes and spent many hours sitting with her husband playing cards & dominoes and reminiscing about old times.
She attended school at Shaw School and Bauxite High School and retired from the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Griffin, Bobby Burks, James Parson, Tommy Hobbs, James Thurston and Bill Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve and Henry Woodall.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at New Friendship Cemetery. Bro. Zack Stringer will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church or the Benton Senior Wellness and Activity Center.
