FORT MYERS, FLA. – Mary L. Gagliardi Lumpp, 91, formerly of New Middleton, passed away Oct. 27, 2011.
She was born July 23, 1920, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Leonard and Frances (Caruso) Gagliardi.
She was a graduate of East High School. Mary was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church since 1970, St. Paul’s Altar Guild and an active volunteer making the church’s renowned homemade pirogues since 1984. She shared her time and talents with the Lowellville Seniors, the 1418 Seniors, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 177 of Canfield.
Mary was also active with the retired senior volunteer program, performing group line and square dances at numerous nursing homes, providing entertainment and activities for the residents. Mary truly enjoyed interacting with and entertaining others.
As a member of the Mahoning County Senior Center Golden Age Follys, she performed in such shows as “Oklahoma,” “Funs-a-Poppin,” “Salute to World War II” and “Unity In The Community.” Additionally, she and Follys members often provided entertainment to community agencies and organizations. Mary was also awarded a small part in Boom Boom Mancini’s local film, “Turn of Faith.”
Mary’s husband, Joseph Lumpp, whom she married Nov. 27, 1968, passed away Sept. 12, 1987.
She is survived by three sons, Leonard (Diane) Amodio of Vienna, Carl (Lorraine) Amodio of Wheaton, IIl. and Anthony Amodio and Suzanne Morton of Ft. Myers, with whom she made her home for the past five years and five grandchildren, Adam, Allison, Sarah, Nathan and Anthony.
Mary was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Carl Gagliardi and two sisters, Annette Dance and Josephine Dan.
