Washington - Lois I. Butler, 88, formerly of Creve Coeur, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2005, at Washington Christian Village, where she was a resident.

Born May 29, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Carl William and Hazel Irene Meskimen Cathcart, she married George Edward Butler. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, one brother, one grandson and two great-grandsons.

Surviving are one son, Robert (and Patricia) of Pekin; five daughters, Loretta (and Herbert) Buhs of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Mary (and Larry) Myers of Kahoka, Mo., Nancy (and Don) Dabney of East Peoria, Patricia (and Gary) Lalock of Manito and Sue Butler of Morton; one sister, Marian (and Harold) Combs of Washington; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A member of Bergner's Retirees Club, she worked for Bergner's for 22 years, retiring in 1983.

Cremation will be accorded. Private burial of ashes will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Washington Christian Village's chapel fund or to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
