Obituary:

Carol was born on Easter Sunday in 1951 (March 25th) in Fort Worth, TX to her parents, Earl and Carol Bayless. She graduated from Texas Christian University in 1973 with a degree in Education, and later completed her Master's in English from Sul Ross University in 1997. In 1975, she married Bob Fleming and they lived in Abilene, TX until 1980 when they moved to Odessa, TX. Once in Odessa, Carol continued her teaching career at Crockett Junior High, Ector Junior High, and in 1986, began teaching English at Permian High School. She completed her career in education at the Administration building where she assisted in the development and implementation of the Advanced Academic Program for ECISD. Carol retired in 2007 and dedicated her remaining time to living and loving Bob and her growing family.

Carol was an amazing woman who positively impacted the lives of so many she touched. She had a passion, not just for literacy and liberal arts, but for the students she was blessed with every year. Her goal was to enrich young minds, yet she did so much more…she enriched lives, leaving behind an amazing legacy.

Carol very much had a servant's heart. As a member of First Baptist Church Odessa since 1980, Carol was very active in the church choir as well as the children's and youth Sunday school classes. She volunteered her time to many organizations including the Junior League of Odessa, Panhellenic, Crystal Ball Board of Directors and the Oil Baron's Committee for the American Cancer Society.

Carol is survived by her husband, two daughters, four grandchildren, two brothers, and by nieces and nephews.
