Graduated from high school in Henderson at 16, attended Stephen F Austin State University and Southern Methodist University, graduating at age 20. She worked as a staff accountant at Ernst and Ernst in Dallas, and then cut her teeth in real estate finance with The Trammell Crow Companies. She married Robin Richmond in Dallas on October 29, 1983, and her job took them to Minneapolis, MN, in 1988. In 1996, she took a job in Cleveland, Ohio, with Forest City Enterprises, where she became President of Forest City Finance. She loved her work and her colleagues, and they very much loved her, too. She was very proud of Forest City, the way they treated their employees, and the kind of projects they built.

Judith was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003, and, despite debilitating chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, continued to live a full life without complaint or discouragement. She was a great inspiration to many people, especially other cancer patients.

A trail was dedicated in her honor at Edgewater Park in Cleveland. The monument states that her "wisdom, grace, and charm will be long remembered by her many friends and colleagues in the Edgewater Neighborhood and the City of Cleveland".
