Miriam Louise Keen, (93) of Kansas City, MO passed away on July 15th at Kansas City Hospice House after a brief illness. Miriam was born on Valentine's Day, 1928 in Chicago, IL., to Helen Catherine and Eias Louis Mertz. Miriam and Calvin were married at St. James Church. They first met at the Playmore Skating Rink and celebrated 51 years together. Miriam loved spending time at the Lake with her husband, children, grandkids, relatives and friends. She got a kick out of the grandkids learning to swim, fish and ski. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bowling, bingo and family get-togethers. Her shopping trips with her sisters were always full of enjoyment as there were always bargains they would find. Miriam volunteered at Our Lady of Good Counsel Food Pantry and the Redemptorist Food Pantry, was a member of St Thomas More Catholic Church. She retired as a secretary from Allied Signal. She graduated from Lillis High School, the second graduating class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin J Keen Sr, daughter, Sally Ann, two daughter-in-laws, Terry Keen and Chris Keen, two sisters, Catherine Ernst, Dorothy Smeltzer; two brothers Lawrence and Louis Mertz. She is survived by sons, Calvin J. Keen Jr and Stephen Keen, daughter Julie Keen; grandchildren, Katie Millard and Matt Keen, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Miriam was a loving mother and wife who will be missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m with The Mass at 11:00 am at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. The family requests masks be worn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Kansas City Hospice or St Thomas More Church.
