Rayburne W. Russell, 93, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.

Family visitation is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with Dr. James Hassell of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

He was born on March 4, 1922, in Lubbock, Texas, to Charlie and Etta Durham Russell.

Ray Russell retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, serving on a PT boat in the Mediterranean through at least six major battles.

He and his wife of 67 years were members of the First Baptist Church for over 54 years.

He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Danny; and his wife, Rose Ellen.

He is survived by his youngest son Robert; his daughter-in-law, Sonja; and two grandsons, Toby and Tyler.
