Ernest Harold Altevogt, 90, of Litchfield, died Fri., Oct. 2, 2015 at 8:05 a.m. in Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Litchfield. He was born on July 17, 1925 in Irving Twp., IL, a son of Fred H. & Verna May (Caulk) Altevogt. Mr. Altevogt was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He had worked as an auto mechanic for both Lingle Motors in Hillsboro & Major Motors in Litchfield. He was a member of First Baptist Church & VFW Post #3912 in Litchfield. He belonged to the Midwest Antique Gas Hit & Miss Engine Club where he was well known for collecting engines and his skills as an auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Robert Altevogt; 1 sister, Edna Brown.
