Fort Bend Herald, October 2, 2015:

Yvonne Virginia (Sneigr) Hamilton, 91, of Sugar Land, TX, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Members of the family were by her side.

She was born on October 5, 1923 to Thomas Charles and Josephine (Wilkerson) Sneigr in Victoria, TX. During childhood, Yvonne and her family moved to Corpus Christis, TX, where she then later graduated from Corpus Christi Senior High School.

In her early years, Yvonne married Lt. Al Harshbarger, who was a fighter pilot in World War II. They had one child together, Gary Wayne, before Al was killed aboard the USS Aircraft Carrier “Wasp” and buried at sea in the South Pacific.

Yvonne later remarried Bill Hamilton, who was an electrician with the Fisk Electric Company. They moved to Sugar Land, TX, and resided there for over 40 years.

As well as being a loving wife and mother, Yvonne worked for American General Insurance Company, in Houston and retired after many years of dedicated service.

Pastime hobbies included painting, sewing, cooking, and reading. She decorated her home with many of her original artworks. As an avid reader she enjoyed romance novels, magazine articles, and the newspaper.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Thomas Sneigr; first husband Al Harshbarger; second husband Bill Hamilton; son Gary Wayne Hamilton (who served in the Vietnam War as a paratrooper and Green Beret soldier); sisters Dorothy Ann (Sneigr) Howard, Velma (Sneigr) Mahaffey, and Patricia (Sneigr) Smith.

She is survived by two sisters, Jo Nell (Sneigr) Mikulenka, and Tommie Jean (Sneigr) Vial and husband Raymond. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Settegast-Kopf and Co. on the SW Freeway in Sugar Land; Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home; Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery on Westheimer, Houston, Texas. 6900 Lawndale Ave. Houston, TX 77023.
