Shelby Jane “Sukie” Hill, age 78, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother John Maltais and Brian Albright officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shepard Cemetery.
Ewing Albright, Mike Albright, Randall Albright, Gary Albright, Todd Albright, Jeff Shepard, Steve Shepard, Mark Head and Chad Head serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Jo Byrns Class of 1955 and the Staff of Austin & Bell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hill was born August 29, 1937 in Stroudsville, TN to the late Comer B. and Addie Learlean Frey Shepard.
She was a homemaker and member of the Stroudsville Church of Christ. Mrs. Hill was also a part of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home family where she served as a Funeral Attendant and Greeter. She was a member of a special group of ladies from her high school days at Jo Byrns, known as the "Fab Five".
In addition to her parents Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Hill, a long-time funeral director and embalmer at Austin & Bell, her brothers, Houston Shepard, Bobby Shepard and infant brother, Billy Shepard, and her sister, Willowdean Albright. Mrs. Hill is survived by her son, Rick (Janie) Hester of Springfield; daughters, Sheila (Bill) Locke of Springfield and Selena (Mitch) Orr of Cross Plains; sister, Myra (Robert) Head of Chapmansboro; granddaughters, Hannah (Dustin) Thomas of Springfield and Peyton Orr of Clarksville; and one great-granddaughter on the way.
