William Albert Brant was born to Joseph Henry Brant and Susannah Wilson. He grew up in Scioto County and joined the 33rd Regiment of the Ohio Infantry in the Civil War. After the war, he moved to Grundy County, Missouri and married Nancy Marie Chrisman December 24, 1868. They farmed, and engaged in fruit raising. On March 8, Mr Brant went out to get his ground in condition to plow, starting with a fire to burn off grass. It spread quickly and he attempted to stamp it out when his clothing caught fire. He died several hours later.
He leaves with his passing his wife, and sons Joseph of Bolivar, MO; George T of Wheeling, MO; and James F of Drexel, MO. He also leaves two brothers, Joseph H Brant of Lucasville, Ohio; Tom of Hadm, KS, and a sister, Mrs Rachael Yeager of Lucasville, Ohio.
