Leo D. Bauer, 78, Fargo, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo.

Leo was born on October 13, 1927 to Albin Bauer and Margaret Yantzer on the family farm at Crown Butte, west of Mandan, ND. He was raised on the family farm and attended the country elementary school nearby. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1946. He taught at a country elementary school near Mandan for a short time following graduation. Mr. Bauer worked in sales and service and bookkeeping for various automotive dealerships in Mandan, Lemmon, SD, Beach, ND, and Richardton, ND. He worked for Muscatell Chevrolet, United Electric, Hustad & Sons, Montgomery Ward, and Russ Honda West. He owned Bauer Motors, Dilworth, MN from 1971-1976. In 1957 he married Hazel Heid of New Salem, ND. In 1963 they moved to Fargo. Hazel died in 1973. He married Florence Tangen in 1983.

Leo enjoyed gardening, golf, Bison football, cooking, dancing, and the outdoors. Leo and Florence had recently moved to Riverview Place where they have made many friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Emma Bauer; his brother-in-law, Tony Frohlich; his brothers, Joseph and Adam; his sister, Helen; and his stepson, Ron Tangen.

Leo is survived by his wife, his sister, Rose, Mandan, ND; his daughter, Karla (Joe) Maertens, West Fargo, ND; his son, Jerry, Fargo, ND; his stepsons, Raymond Tangen, Fargo, ND and Chuck (Pam) Tangen, West Fargo, ND; his stepdaughters, Marcia (Wayne) Schneider, Harvey, ND, and Janet (Jack) Sodnak, Moorhead, MN; his grandchildren, Sierra, Cody, Sheyenne, Santana, and Colton Schneider, Joey and Matthew Tangen, April, James, and Melissa Maertens, Casey Tangen, and Logan Sodnak; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
