Rose, a long-time resident of Morgan Hill, CA, passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 90 at Saint Louise Hospital in Gilroy, CA.
She was born in Montana, grew up and married in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and moved to Morgan Hill in 1945.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bert Finton, her son Merlin, and son-in-law Glen Howlett.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Howlett of Morgan Hill, and her son, Roger Finton of Morgan Hill, and also survived by grandchildren Terri, Leslie, Glen, Victoria, Konrad, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Rose worked at Driscoll's, Pik'd Rite, Felice & Pirelli's Canneries and retired after 25 years. When she wasn't working, she loved growing African violets and flowers around her home. She loved her children and grandchildren and still recognized them the last evening of her life.
She was the oldest person in the history of her family, and even out-lived most of her friends. She will be lovingly remembered as the matriarch of her family.
Funeral service were held on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill.
