Merrill V. Welch, 91, of Sherwood Road, Aurora, NY died Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the arms of his beloved wife of 72 years, Beverly at the Loretto Cunningham Nursing Home in Syracuse, NY.

Mr. Welch was born in Middlebury, VT the son of the late Elliot and Lydia Varney Welch and has resided in Southern Cayuga County since 1996. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Vermont, retiring in 1964. Following his retirement he and his wife Beverly traveled throughout the country visiting almost every state. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church of King Ferry.

Surviving is his wife, Beverly Sweet Welch, Aurora, NY; one son, George C. Welch and his wife Eileen of King Ferry, NY; two daughters, Meredith Dewey and her husband William of Brandon, FL and Renee' A. McGarry of Aurora, NY; one brother, Richard Welch and his wife Barbara of King Ferry, NY; two sisters,Eleanor Osterhoudt and her husband Robert of Genoa, NY and Esther Thurston of Union Springs, NY; 11 grandchildren,Nikki, Josh, Matthew, Andrew, John, Candise, Brian, Lynn, David, Angie and Tim; many great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a time to be announced.

Interment will take place in West Genoa Cemetery, King Ferry, NY.

Mr. Welch will be remembered for being a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather. The Shakelton Funeral Home of Aurora is in charge of arrangements.
