Katie (Nail) Strain, age 86, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at her daughter's home in Blanco. Katie (Nail) Strain was born August 31, 1929 to her parents Dock P. and Mabel Simpson Nail at Savanna, Oklahoma. She was a lifetime area resident. She was employed for many years at MRHC in the housekeeping department. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was active in making quilts and crocheting. Attended Church and sang in the worship service and played her guitar. She enjoyed camping and most of all taking care of kids.
Survivors include her children, Laverne Caudill and Kenneth W. Strain, step-children, Joetta Strain, Jim Strain and Stanford Strain, brothers, Leroy Nail, Ronnie Nail, Dock Nail and Robert Nail, sisters, Anna Mae Beasley, Lillie Hennington, Linda Disney, Della Eisel, Mildred Kay Miller and Carolyn Nail, 5 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock and Mabel Nail, step-mother, Zettia Nail, brother James Paul Nail, step-children, Sanford Strain, Wenford Strain, Lenford Strain, T.J. Ledford Strain, Billy Edford Strain, Dolly Spears, Nellie Smith and Shirley Ann Cook. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Featherston Cemetery with the Reverend Bob Deshazer and Larry Begley officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
