TUPELO – Constance Suzanne Crum ""Connie"" Fowler, 67, departed this life on Sept. 26, 2015, at Darlington Oaks in Verona. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 10, 1948, to Thomas Eldridge Crum and Martha Price Crum. Connie and her family moved to Tupelo when she was 16 years of age. She enjoyed a happy childhood and adolescence in Tupelo. As an adult, she was employed in administration in the alcohol recovery field, also with Tom Robinson and Associates Advertising and Gordon Marks. Her last and dearest public work was with Regional Rehab in the head trauma and deaf and blind programs.
She married Earl Wayne Fowler on April 1, 1989, and became a master homemaker and home designer in her last years. Connie was a spirited woman who served others through her many community involvements. She was one of four co-founders of SAFE Inc., a shelter for battered and abused women. She helped write one of the original grants for alcohol rehabilitation in Mississippi that funded treatment for alcoholics. She served many years on the Tupelo Clean and Beautiful Committee and was a member of the Woman's Business Club. A Baptist, she found her place in the world serving her family and those who were troubled in life and needed a helping hand. Her hobbies included Ole Miss football, fine coffees and decorating.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. Private burial at a later date will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday only.
